Haast eagle

📌    Haast eye also known as hievaetus moorei the largest known eagle known to have existed from almost 2million years around the pleistocene epoch it grew in size due to either island gigantism and island gigantism is caused by the the increase in prey and and decrease in the predator or no predator at all iduecrease in size of the prey called moa   the moa species are over 249 kilogram and has an height of 3.6 meter tall so they have to grow larger in size to bring down there prey and the moa species is killed by swooping down on its prey at 50mph and digging it's feet on the skull of the moa and it weighs about 11.5 kilogram for the males and for the females weigh about 14 kilogram  and has a wing span of 2.6-3 meter and it evolved from the Australian little eagle since 700,000 years to 1.5 million years ago  and it's beak was 130 mm long and has a talon size of 75 mm long

📍     The extinction of the species was caused by human colonization of the south island on Steven island 🗾.

    📍  Island and the introduction of non native species like rats, pigs which destroyed the eggs of the moa decreasing the species population and the haast eagle population was low and it was 3500-4000 breeding pair and the moa species was the only diet that can feed the moa up and it went extinct over over 500-600 years ago and for more. kindly follow us on any of this social media platforms
