After along siege the city was finally captured by the Roman under the rule of general Marcellus which instructed his men that Archimedes was a scientific asset. So that day the city was captured and a Roman solider when to meet him telling him that the general wants to see him and at that particular moment he was working on a mathematical diagram so he told the soilder that he should not disturb his circle causing the soilder to be annoyed therefore killing him. That caused the general to be enraged despite warning them.
And Archimedes is also known for his great discoveries and invention
For invention he created the
๐Archimedes screw : which is use for bringing water up from Wells in ancient times still in use in some undeveloped country.
๐ Antikythra mechanism: which is use in knowing the position of the star, sun and the calendar on the year.
And some mathematical discoveries which are
๐ the laws of levers and pulleys, which allow us to move heavy objects using small forces.
๐Invented one of the most fundamental concepts of physics – the center of gravity.
๐He calculated the pi number to the most precise value known. His upper limit for pi was the fraction 22⁄7. This value was still in use in the late 20th century, until electronic calculators finally laid it to rest.
๐He discovered the mathematically formulas for the volume and surface area of a sphere.
๐he showed how exponents could be used to write bigger numbers than had ever been thought of before and
He even proved that to multiply numbers written as exponents, the exponents should be added together.
Later in the future infuriated mathematicians who tried to replicate his discoveries 18 centuries later. they tried and failed to understand how Archimedes had achieved his results.
๐And one of his best invention remembered through out history is the discovery of the Archimedes principal in which king Heiro the second told him to determine whether is crown as been mixed with silver without damaging it so Archimedes went ahead trying all day to get it but he could not so he went to bathe while he wanted to bathe he noticed the water in the tub rose as he got in, and realized that this effect could be used to determine the volume of the crown. For practical purposes water is incompressible,[24] so the submerged crown would displace an amount of water equal to its own volume. By dividing the mass of the crown by the volume of water displaced, the density of the crown could be obtained. This density would be lower than that of gold if cheaper and less dense metals had been added. Archimedes then took to the streets naked, so excited by his discovery that he had forgotten to dress, crying "Eureka!" In Greek meaning "i have found it" .The test was conducted successfully, proving that silver had indeed been mixed in.
Making him creating what we know as the Archimedes principle and the principle states that a body immersed in fluid loses weight equal to the weight of the amount of fluid it displaces.
His work was revolutionary that it still affects the world as we know it.
